Martha Burk urges US Women's Open to leave Trump National

Martha Burk is back in golf, encouraging people to join a protest over the U.S. Women's Open being held next year at Trump National in New Jersey.

She made the call for supporters in a blog for The Huffington Post on Friday.

Burk rose to prominence in 2002 when she challenged Augusta National to end its discrimination by inviting a female member, suggesting it could become a problem at the Masters. The club chairman, Hootie Johnson, sent her a scathing reply that the club might one day have female members, yet not ''at the point of a bayonet.''

PGA cancels Grand Slam of Golf at Trump National in LA

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — The PGA of America will not hold its Grand Slam of Golf for the major champions this year.

The 36-hole exhibition was supposed to be played in October at Trump National in Los Angeles. The PGA & Donald Trump agreed that it would move away from Trump's course after he received criticism for his remarks approximately Mexican immigrants while launching his candidacy for U.S. president.

The PGA had been looking for a replacement golf course with suitable dates. But on Thursday the PGA announced it would cancel the event because of the timing & logistics required to stage the exhibition at the ''highest standards.''

EDISON, N.J. (AP) — Jim Herman played in the group in front of Tiger Woods last week on the PGA Tour, giving him a little experience in coping with gallery noise behind him. Sunday at The Barclays was slightly different. It wasn't the size of the gallery, it was one person.

Donald Trump came out to Plainfield to watch him play.

The Republican presidential candidate marched along the ropes on the back nine with fans – including one dressed up as Santa Claus – wanting handshakes & selfies.
