Sidney Crosby hoists Stanley Cup at hometown parade

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia (AP) — Sidney Crosby showed off the Stanley Cup to his hometown fans.

The Pittsburgh Penguins captain paraded through Cole Harbour on Saturday, riding in the back of a pickup truck & displaying the Cup on top of the cab, lifting it over his head several times. Crosby was decked out in shorts, a black ball cap & a T-shirt proclaiming ''Stanley Cup Champions 2016.''

The pickup was escorted by several RCMP officers dressed in ceremonial red serge. Police on motorcycles sounded their sirens & other vehicles blasted horns as the procession moved along the parade route.

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia (AP) — Sidney Crosby has received a rousing reception during a parade in Canada, with the Pittsburgh Penguins captain showing off the Stanley Cup to his hometown fans.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Patrick Marleau has played more than 1,500 games with the San Jose Sharks since joining the NHL as an 18-year-old draft pick yet never one quite like the next one.

All those past playoff disappointments that have seemed to define the career of players like Marleau & Joe Thornton could be put to the side temporarily with one more San Jose win.

For the first time in 25 seasons as an NHL franchise, the Sharks are just one win away from making the Stanley Cup final. San Jose takes a 3-2 lead over St. Louis in the Western Conference final into Game 6 on Wednesday night in what should be a frenzied Shark Tank.

Stanley Cup to visit Kentucky Derby contender Nyquist

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — The Stanley Cup is coming to the Kentucky Derby.

The prize awarded to hockey's championship team will be brought to the barn of trainer Doug O'Neill on Saturday, hours before he saddles expected Derby favorite Nyquist in the 1 1/4-mile race.

Nyquist's owner, Paul Reddam, is Canadian & he's a huge fan of the Detroit Red Wings. Reddam named his prize colt after Red Wings player Gustav Nyquist, who is Swedish.

Blackhawks agree to terms with Rozsival on 1-year deal

CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to terms with defenseman Michal Rozsival on a one-year contract.

The 37-year-old Rozsival had 13 points (one goal, 12 assists) in 65 games with the Blackhawks last season. He added an assist in 10 playoff games for the Stanley Cup champs. Rozsival has 33 points (two goals, 31 assists) in 134 games with Chicago over the past three seasons.

Rozsival has 293 points (66 goals, 227 assists) over 890 games with Pittsburgh, the New York Rangers, Arizona & Chicago. Rozsival was selected by Pittsburgh in the fourth round (105th overall) of the 1996 draft.
