LONDON, Aug 27 (Reuters) – Former European champions Steaua Bucharest & English Premier League Southampton suffered shock defeats by Scandinavian teams in Europa League qualifiers on Thursday.

Steaua, who beat Barcelona 2-0 on penalties in the final of the 1986 European Cup, won the second leg 1-0 at Rosenborg Trondheim yet the Norwegians went through 3-1 on aggregate.

The Romanians are fifth in their domestic league, four points behind leaders Astra after eight matches.

BERLIN, Aug 23 (Reuters) – Borussia Dortmund struck four times in the second half to crush promoted Ingolstadt 4-0 on Sunday & climb to the top of the Bundesliga on six points, ahead of champions Bayern Munich on goal difference.

The 2011 & 2012 champions, who won their opener against Borussia Moenchengladbach by the same score, struggled in the first half despite a hatful of chances against the Bavarian club yet broke the deadlock in the 55th minute when defender Matthias Ginter shook off his marker & slotted in.

Coach Thomas Tuchel's team doubled the lead five minutes after when Marco Reus converted a penalty after Marcel Schmelzer was brought down.

Bremen's Argentine striker Franco di Santo claimed his 13th goal of the season by netting an 84th-minute penalty just after Hamburg's Swiss midfielder Valon Behrami was sent off for fouling Werder's Zlatko Junuzovic in the area.
