Drogba continues to make Impact with Montreal

(Reuters) – Didier Drogba scored one & set up another in Montreal's 3-0 home win over New England Revolution on Saturday, as the Impact continue to impress with the former Chelsea striker spearheading their forward line.

Unbeaten in their last four, Montreal are on 36 points in the Eastern Conference & occupy the sixth & final playoff spot. Their chances of making the postseason look satisfactory as they have games in hand over nearest challengers Orlando & NY City.

The defeat snapped New England's six-game winning streak & saw them fall out of first place in the East after Columbus Crew beat DC United 2-1.

Crew-D.C. United Preview

Crew-D.C. United Preview

A string of superior results has the Columbus Crew's confidence soaring, while D.C. United may have had theirs restored with their most recent outcome.

In a game with significant ramifications in the Eastern Conference, the Crew aim for a franchise-record fourth straight road win in Saturday night's matchup with still-slumping United.

Columbus' 4-1-1 surge & D.C.'s four-game winless stretch has created a tight four-way race for first place entering the final month. Though one point back of conference leader New England, United (13-10-6) is only one ahead of fourth-place Columbus (12-9-8) & tied for second with the New York Red Bulls, who hold two games in hand on those three teams.

Rapids-Toronto FC Preview

Rapids-Toronto FC Preview

Eager to put their current struggles behind, Toronto FC hopes to take advantage of a seemingly favorable stretch of home games beginning with Saturday's match against the Colorado Rapids.

Though still in satisfactory position to earn the first playoff berth in its nine-year history, Toronto (11-13-4) begins a five-game homestand having scored just twice while losing three straight. The Reds lead rival Montreal by four points for fifth in the Eastern Conference yet the Impact own two games in hand.

"We don't need to worry approximately teams above us or teams below us. We just need to figure out how to obtain ourselves back on track," captain Michael Bradley told the team's official website.
