Report: Miller facing at least 6-game suspension

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Von Miller is practicing with the Denver Broncos as a new report suggests the All-Pro linebacker could be facing an even longer suspension than originally thought.

ESPN, citing people it didn’t identify, reported that Miller might have to sit out at least six games for violating the league’s drug abuse policy. In that case, Miller’s earliest possible game would be Oct. 20 at Indianapolis.

Previously, it was believed Miller was facing a monthlong suspension to start the 2013 season. Miller had repeatedly expressed confidence he was going to successfully win an appeal of that penalty, insisting he had ”done nothing wrong.”

HOUSTON (AP) — Houston Texans running back Arian Foster will not be at practice on Monday because of lower back soreness, coach Gary Kubiak said.

The running back situation is a little worrisome for the Texans as Foster, who rushed for 1,424 yards & 15 touchdowns last season, is still being hampered by lower back soreness.

AP sources: Dolphins' Keller (knee) out for season

MIAMI (AP) — Dustin Keller will miss the entire season with a knee injury that leaves the Miami Dolphins without much experience at tight end, a position in which they were counting on an upgrade to enliven their offense in 2013.

Keller seriously injured his right knee during Saturday’s preseason game at Houston, two people familiar with the diagnosis said Sunday. They confirmed the extent of the injury on condition of anonymity because the Dolphins made no public comment.

Keller signed a $4.25 million, one-year contract with the Dolphins in March after five seasons with the New York Jets. His injury represents a significant setback for the Dolphins, who acquired Keller to replace tight end Tony Fasano & assist second-year quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

Redskins GM: no controversy between RG3, coach

Redskins GM: no controversy between RG3, coach

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Bruce Allen knows well the history of Washington Redskins quarterback controversies. Sonny Jurgensen vs. Billy Kilmer in the ’70s. Doug Williams vs. Jay Schroeder in the ’80s. Heath Shuler vs. Gus Frerotte in ’90s.

In 2013, the popular take-sides issue isn’t QB vs. QB. It’s QB vs. coach. Robert Griffin III vs. Mike Shanahan. And Allen doesn’t see this one going anywhere.

”I don’t see a controversy at all,” Allen said Friday. ”I know somehow Billy & Sonny are laughing that we created a quarterback controversy with Robert Griffin. But we have a very competitive player who’s dying to play football & we have a very experienced coach who’s doing the right thing.”
