Golf tournament formerly at Trump resort unveils Mexico home

NAUCALPAN, Mexico (AP) — A golf tournament yanked from a Florida resort owned by Donald Trump unveiled its new home in Mexico on Wednesday.

Sponsor Grupo Salinas said the event will be held in March at the Chapultepec Golf Club outside Mexico City.

The PGA Tour revealed in June that the World Golf Championship event was moving to Mexico after being at Trump National Doral in Miami since 2007. The announcement came nearly a year after the now Republican presidential nominee accused Mexican migrants of bringing drugs to the U.S. & being rapists.

Phoenix Suns to play 2 regular-season games in Mexico

PHOENIX (AP) — The Phoenix Suns will play two regular-season ''home'' games in Mexico City this season.

The team announced games there against the Dallas Mavericks on Jan. 12 & the San Antonio Spurs on Jan. 14.

It's the first time the NBA will have two games played in Mexico in the same season. With the two contests, the NBA will have held 24 games in Mexico since the first was held in 1992 & more than any country besides Canada.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump blasted the PGA Tour on Wednesday for a reported plan to move a major golf tournament from Trump's Doral course in Miami to Mexico.

"It is a sad day for Miami, the United States & the game of golf, to have the PGA Tour consider moving the World Golf Championships, which has been hosted in Miami for the last 55 years, to Mexico," Trump said in a statement.

He linked the move to decisions by some U.S. companies to move jobs to Mexico.

Mexico's Pulido, striker for Olympiakos, rescued after kidnap

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Mexican soccer player Alan Pulido has been rescued a day after the striker for the Greek soccer team Olympiakos was kidnapped in the restive northeastern state of Tamaulipas, the state government said early on Monday.

The 25-year-old Mexico national team player disappeared in his hometown of Ciudad Victoria on Saturday night, when he was intercepted by armed people after leaving a party.

"The most significant thing is that is he is here with us," Tamaulipas Governor Egidio Torre Cantu told reporters in footage broadcast on local television, flanked by Pulido.

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Andres Guardado & Jesus Corona scored first-half goals & Mexico beat Canada 2-0 Tuesday night in a World Cup qualifier to become the first nation to clinch a berth in the six-nation final round of the North & Central American & Caribbean region.

Guardado scored on a penalty kick in the 17th & Corona in the 45th.

Seeking its seventh straight World Cup berth, Mexico (4-0) leads Group A with 12 points, followed by Canada & Honduras (both 1-2-1) & El Salvador (0-2-2).

Ankle injury: Mexico midfielder Guardado out for 4-6 weeks

EINDHOVEN, Netherlands (AP) — Mexico captain Andres Guardado will miss his country's Confederations Cup playoff against the United States next month after tests confirmed that he sustained ankle ligament damage last week.

Guardado injured his ankle in the 70th minute of PSV Eindhoven's surprise 2-1 Champions League defeat of Manchester United on Sept. 15.

PSV said that tests including an MRI scan Monday confirmed the seriousness of the injury & Guardado will be out of action for four-to-six weeks.
