SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — For the first time in seven years, there was a new coach at the front of the room when the San Jose Sharks opened training camp.

Coach Peter DeBoer held his first practice Friday since taking over for Todd McLellan following last season. DeBoer is tasked with getting the Sharks back into the playoffs & contention for that elusive Stanley Cup after San Jose missed the postseason for the first time since 2003.

DeBoer brings a new voice & some tweaks to how the team plays yet said there is no need for wholesale changes for a team that for years was one of the best in the regular season only to fall short in the playoffs.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Martin Jones was at the top of San Jose's list as general manager Doug Wilson went into the offseason searching for a starting goaltender.

As shortly as Jones was dealt from rival Los Angeles to Boston, Wilson saw his opportunity to obtain him.

Jones was traded for the second time in five days on Tuesday, getting dealt from Boston to the Sharks for a 2016 first-round pick & unsigned forward prospect Sean Kuraly.

Bruins send Lucic to Kings for Miller, Jones, draft pick

BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Bruins traded top-line left wing Milan Lucic to the Los Angeles Kings on Friday for defenseman Colin Miller, goalie Martin Jones & the 13th pick in the NHL draft.

The hard-hitting Lucic spent all eight of his seasons with Boston. He had 139 goals & 203 assists in 566 regular-season games.

But he is coming off a disappointing season in which he had 18 goals & 26 assists in 81 games.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — When the Los Angeles Kings' current & former backup goalies faced off in a defense-dominated game, Martin Jones & Jonathan Bernier matched each other for 58 consecutive scoreless minutes.

The Kings' goals in the first & final minutes added up to a skid-snapping shutout.

Jones made 19 saves in his seventh career shutout, & Anze Kopitar scored 37 seconds into the Kings' 2-0 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday night.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Dustin Brown snapped a tie 44 seconds into the second period, & the Los Angeles Kings beat the San Jose Sharks 4-1 in an NHL preseason game on Tuesday night.

Drew Doughty, in his first appearance of the preseason, scored the tying goal midway through the first period. Justin Williams & Dwight King moreover scored for the Kings (4-0-1).

Joe Thornton scored for the Sharks, who lost in regulation at home for the first time in five preseason games.
