Manchester (United Kingdom) (AFP) – Premier League leaders Manchester City hope Sergio Aguero's early return from injury can spark an immediate response after their latest Champions League meltdown.

Manuel Pellegrini's side were buoyant after winning their opening five Premier League matches, & so it was all the more surprising that on Tuesday they lost 2-1 at home to a Juventus side who have started the Serie A season poorly.

The task now for City is to pick up their domestic momentum again, by claiming a 12th successive Premier League victory.

London (AFP) – Nathan Dyer scored a brave 89th-minute winner as Leicester City stormed back from 2-0 down to beat Aston Villa 3-2 & claim second place in the Premier League on Sunday.

Villa looked set to inflict a first defeat of the campaign on Claudio Ranieri's men after stylish first-time finishes either side of half-time by Jack Grealish & Carles Gil put them in control at the King Power Stadium.

But Ritchie De Laet halved the deficit in the 72nd minute with a flick from a Riyad Mahrez corner that the Goal Decision System showed had just crossed the line before Jamie Vardy turned in Danny Drinkwater's low cross for the equaliser 10 minutes later.

Adebayor, 31, had not been included in the club's 25-man Premier League squad for this season or given a squad number.

London (AFP) – Manuel Pellegrini expects Kelechi Iheanacho to play a significant role in Manchester City's title challenge after the Nigerian teenager's first goal for the club secured a dramatic 1-0 victory at Crystal Palace.

Iheanacho, who has the appropriate middle name of Promise, burst onto the Premier League stage on Saturday when he scored the 90th minute winner at Selhurst Park moments after appearing as a late substitute in only his second appearance for City.

City manager Pellegrini has high hopes for the Nigeria under-20 international & admits the player's development persuaded him he did not need to bring in a replacement after Edin Dzeko left for Roma.

London (AFP) – Jose Mourinho refused to condemn his Chelsea flops after their Premier League title defence was plunged into turmoil as Steven Naismith's hat-trick gave Everton a 3-1 win on Saturday.

Mourinho's side made a miserable start at Goodison Park as Scotland forward Naismith came off the bench to score twice in the space of five minutes mid-way through the first half.

Nemanja Matic pulled one back for Chelsea before the interval, yet Naismith completed his treble in the closing stages to condemn the Blues — with three defeats & only four points from their five matches — to their worst start to a season since 1988.
