LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Arizona Diamondbacks are getting tired of watching the Dodgers win NL West titles year after year. Two seasons ago, they even watched Los Angeles celebrate in their swimming pool beyond the right field fence at Chase Field after clinching the division.

Monday night, the Diamondbacks made sure there wouldn't be a champagne party at their expense at Dodger Stadium before the home team went back on the road.

Paul Goldschmidt homered after Yasmany Tomas & Aaron Hill gave the Diamondbacks the lead with longballs off Brett Anderson, helping Jhoulys Chacin win an 8-4 decision on Monday night.

Cole (17-8) allowed three runs & six hits in seven innings & struck out nine, improving to 3-0 in four career starts against Los Angeles.

''It seemed like this was probably the best pure baseball game I feel like we've played,'' Kershaw said.

At least the Dodgers' ace found artistic merit in their 6-4 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night, & not just because their fifth straight win kept them steamrolling toward the playoffs.

Padres' sloppy defense gives Dodgers 5-1 win, series

SAN DIEGO (AP) — As the Dodgers readied for their series in San Diego, manager Don Mattingly was worried approximately his club being complacent – Los Angeles had just swept a pivotal three-game series with NL West-rival San Francisco, & the Padres had been fading.

But after the Dodgers took Sunday's contest 5-1, Mattingly was at ease. The Dodgers won three of four games, are a season-high 20 games above .500 & 7 1/2 games ahead of the Giants.

''Obviously that first one hurt, coming from behind & then letting that one obtain away,'' Mattingly said. ''But I feel like the guys were really good. They seemed to be really steady. Didn't really feel that emotional letdown.''
