Daly on the mend after collapsing on course

(Reuters) – Two-times major champion John Daly said on Sunday that he was "still very sore" after collapsing during a minor tournament in Mississippi.

Daly was taken by ambulance to a local hospital after collapsing as he walked off the 18th tee at Deerfield Golf Club north of Jackson on Saturday.

“Still very sore & dealing w/the issues from my rib injury in '07 that has caused me a lot of pain. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon,” the 49-year-old American tweeted.

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — John Daly collapsed near the end of a round of golf Saturday & was taken by ambulance to a hospital.

The 49-year-old Daly was playing in a small, local tournament at Deerfield Golf Club in Jackson's northern suburbs.

Daly's friend, Billy Allen, who was with Daly at the hospital, said the two-time major champion's vital signs were satisfactory yet doctors were checking on possible injuries to his ribs & fingers.

2015 PGA Championship volunteer registration now open

KOHLER, Wis. — The PGA of America & Kohler Co. announced today that applications for available volunteer positions for the 2015 PGA Championship are now being accepted.

More than 3,000 volunteers are needed as the PGA Championship prepares to make its third visit to Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wis. The world's best golfers will compete for the coveted Wanamaker Trophy, Aug. 10-16, 2015, along the shores of Lake Michigan.
