LAKE FOREST, Illinois (Reuters) – Jason Day claimed his fourth victory in six starts & surged to the world number one ranking after going wire-to-wire to win the BMW Championship by six shots on Sunday.

The Australian closed out his tournament with a two-under-par 69 to complete at 22-under 262 at Conway Farms, six clear of American rookie Daniel Berger (69) in the third of the PGA Tour's four FedExCup playoff events.

EDISON, New Jersey (Reuters) – Red-hot PGA Championship winner Jason Day of Australia romped to victory at The Barclays on Sunday, winning the opening event of the lucrative FedExCup Series by a whopping six strokes.

World number three Day reeled off eight birdies in a bogey-free final round 62 for a 19-under-par 261 total at Plainfield Country Club for his third victory in his last four starts.

Stallings banned three months for doping violation

(Reuters) – Three-times PGA Tour winner Scott Stallings has been suspended for three months for violating the PGA Tour's anti-doping policy, the tour said on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old American, whose most recent victory on tour was at last year's Farmers Insurance Open, turned himself in as shortly as he learned of the violation.

"I discovered in February 2015 that I had inadvertently taken a supplement for the prior two months that was not permitted by the PGA Tour," Stallings said in a statement released through the tour.

Day & Compton share lead at weather-hit PGA Tour event

(Reuters) – Australian Jason Day & American Erik Compton were tied for the early third-round lead at the weather-hit Zurich Classic of New Orleans on Saturday as the players prepared for a marathon Sunday to complete the event.

World number six Day was one-under par after three holes & Compton four-under after six, leaving the pair level at 13-under overall on a rain-softened layout at the TPC Louisiana where thunderstorms have disrupted play for the last three days.

England's Justin Rose, Canadian David Hearn & Americans Blayne Barber & Jerry Kelly were a further stroke back yet no player in the field had completed more than 12 holes when play was suspended for the day in fading light.
