MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Laurent Blanc has one fundamental goal with Paris Saint-Germain: win the Champions League.

Once again the coach has fallen short in the mission set by the Qatari ownership, with PSG eliminated in the quarterfinals for a fourth successive season.

''We have shown our technical limitations over the two legs,'' Blanc said through a translator after Tuesday's 3-2 aggregate loss to Manchester City. ''I'm angry.''

Bayern Munich begins quest for 6th European Cup

PIRAEUS, Greece (AP) — Bayern Munich begins the quest for its sixth European Cup at Olympiakos on Wednesday, while Arsenal opens its 18th successive Champions League campaign at Dinamo Zagreb.

Dinamo, back in the competition after a two-year absence, is on a 41-game unbeaten streak across all competitions. The Croatian champion has never qualified from the group stage in four previous attempts.

Olympiakos upset Atletico Madrid & Juventus at its intimidating Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium last season, though the wins weren't enough to ensure progress beyond the group stage.

Real beat Swiss side Servette 2-0 in Geneva on Sept. 8, 1955 & claimed the first of five straight titles by beating Stade de Reims 4-3 in the final in Paris the following June.

The tournament was an initiative of French sports daily L'Equipe & its then-editor Gabriel Hanot. World governing body FIFA gave their backing under the condition it was organised by their European counterpart UEFA.
