ST. LEON-ROT, Germany (AP) — Charley Hull & Suzann Pettersen beat Alison Lee & Brittany Lincicome 2 up in controversial fashion at the Solheim Cup to donate Europe a 10-6 lead over the United States going into Sunday's singles matches.

Lee missed a short putt for a birdie on the 17th of their resumed fourball match & then picked up her ball under the assumption Europe had conceded – Hull was already walking toward the last hole – only for Pettersen to claim Europe hadn't conceded the short putt. The umpire intervened & Europe was awarded the hole.

''I missed it yet I had just under two feet, like a foot & a half left coming back. And I looked at it & I thought I heard it was good,'' Lee said. ''To me it looked good. I mean, it was a really short putt, effortless putt. And at the same time Charley was walking off the green & Suzann was already off the green so there was no doubt in my mind that that putt was good. I didn't even think twice approximately it. So I just picked it up.''

ST. LEON-ROT, Germany (AP) — Lexi Thompson & Cristie Kerr earned a point for the United States to trail Europe 8-5 in the Solheim Cup before the other fourball matches were suspended Saturday due to offensive light.

The American duo defeated Spanish pair Carlota Ciganda & Azahara Munoz 3 & 2 to reduce the Europeans' lead after a satisfactory morning for the home team.

''We knew where we stood going into the afternoon. It didn't really alter our mindset,'' Thompson said. ''We knew we made a satisfactory team with the matches that we've played together. We just went out & played aggressive.''
