Sturridge injured again, Rashford set for England debut

GATESHEAD, England (AP) — England striker Daniel Sturridge has picked up another injury, potentially affecting his chances of being selected for the European Championship.

England manager Roy Hodgson says Sturridge has a calf injury that has prevented him from training & is a doubt to play in the warmup match against Australia on Friday. Hodgson has until Tuesday to finalize his 23-man squad for the tournament in France.

Sturridge has been beset by injury problems in recent years.

(Reuters) – New Masters champion Danny Willett of England has joined the PGA Tour following his triumph on Sunday at Augusta National in the year's first major championship, the tour announced on Monday.

The 28-year-old Willett will receive a five-year exemption on the U.S. tour that runs through the 2020-21 season on the strength of his stunning three-shot victory for his maiden major.

So far in the 2015-16 season, Willett has three top-five finishes in five starts in U.S. tour events & climbed to No. 9 in the world rankings.

Toni Kroos & Mario Gomez had put the World Cup holders 2-0 up at Berlin's Olympic Stadium on Saturday with an hour gone before the Three Lions roared back.

Harry Kane & Jamie Vardy netted for England before Eric Dier headed the winner a minute into stoppage time as Germany were punished for a sloppy defending & failing to create chances in attack.

Berlin (AFP) – Germany host England at Berlin's imposing Olympic Stadium on Saturday amidst security concerns as both teams look to throw down a marker for Euro 2016.

The Brussels bomb attacks last Tuesday means security personnel will be on a high state of alert with a crowd of around 72,000 expected for the high-profile match as two of the favourites for June's European championships meet.

March 22 (Reuters) – Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick remains positive over his chances of being named in the England squad for the Euro 2016 tournament in France, admitting he has discussed the matter with national coach Roy Hodgson.

The 34-year-old does not feature in the squad for upcoming friendlies against Germany & the Netherlands & last appeared for his country in a 2-0 defeat against Spain in November.

Keen on wearing the Three Lions shirt again, Carrick took up the matter with Hodgson.
