Chelsea's Hazard says has not lost magic touch

Chelsea's Hazard says has not lost magic touch

(Reuters) – Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard is convinced he has not lost his magic touch that was on full display last season & is taking confidence from his goal against Arsenal as he seeks to rediscover the same form this campaign.

The Belgium international's 14 goals helped Chelsea become the English champions for the fifth time last season, besides earning him England's Footballer of the Year & the Players' Player of the Year awards.

The goals have, however, dried up this season for the 24-year-old who failed to find the back of the net in first five league games & scored a deflected goal in stoppage time in Saturday's 2-0 win against Arsenal.

Wenger must tighten up Arsenal discipline says ex-boss Graham

Wenger must tighten up Arsenal discipline says ex-boss Graham

LONDON (Reuters) – Arsene Wenger needs to instil greater discipline into his players after three of them were sent off within a week, former Arsenal manager George Graham said on Sunday.

French striker Olivier Giroud was dismissed in the Champions League defeat by Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday & Gabriel & Santi Cazorla both received red cards during a feisty London derby at Chelsea on Saturday, which the home side won 2-0.

Wenger was furious that Chelsea's Diego Costa escaped with only a yellow card after becoming involving in several incidents & apparently provoking Gabriel.

Chelsea sink nine-man Arsenal, Newcastle lose again

London (AFP) – Kurt Zouma & Eden Hazard gave Chelsea a controversial 2-0 win over nine-man Arsenal on Saturday as the simmering feud between the bitter rivals boiled over with red cards for Gabriel & Santi Cazorla.

Watford heaped more misery on former England manager Steve McClaren with a 2-1 win at Newcastle while Bournemouth managed their first ever Premier League home win in beating Sunderland 2-0.

The acrimonious relationship between Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho & Gunners boss Arsene Wenger seeped through to both teams at Stamford Bridge in a tetchy London derby featuring even more flashpoints than usual.

2 sent off for Arsenal, Costa escapes red as Chelsea wins

2 sent off for Arsenal, Costa escapes red as Chelsea wins

LONDON (AP) — After an uncharacteristically feeble start by Chelsea to its Premier League title defense, the return of Diego Costa's fiery temperament was just what Jose Mourinho needed to rouse his under-performers against Arsenal.

Job done. Even if Costa's aggressive & confrontational tactics do little to endear Chelsea to the neutrals.

There was no goal from last season's top scorer in Saturday's 2-0 victory over Arsenal yet the hot-headed striker's contribution seemed even more significant. Costa managed to escape being dismissed for lashing out at Laurent Koscielny before appearing to incite Gabriel Paulista into being sent off for a retaliatory kick on him right in front of the referee.
