Price pitched seven shutout innings, Jose Bautista had two hits & the Blue Jays used a three-run first inning to beat the New York Yankees 4-2 on Monday night.

Price improved to 8-1 in 10 starts with Toronto since being acquired in a July 30 trade with Detroit.

TORONTO (AP) — Still recovering from an illness that forced him to miss a start last week, Cleveland's Danny Salazar had only one thing on his mind after beating the Toronto Blue Jays.

''I just want to go home & sleep right now,'' a weary Salazar said after shutting down the highest-scoring team in baseball.

Jerry Sands singled home the go-ahead run in the seventh inning, Salazar struck out 10 & the Indians won their sixth straight game, beating the Blue Jays 4-2 on Monday night.

TORONTO (AP) — The ownership of the Toronto Blue Jays says it would ''love'' to keep general manager Alex Anthopoulos & has been in discussions approximately extending his contract.

The news comes on the day Rogers Communications announced the hiring of Cleveland Indians President Mark Shapiro to become team president. He replaces Paul Beeston, who is retiring.

Rogers spokesperson Andrea Goldstein said Monday the team would ''love to extend Alex's contract'' & that he ''has a done a terrific job.'' His contract expires in October.

Norris took a three-hitter into the eighth inning, J.D. Martinez hit a three-run homer & the Tigers beat the Baltimore Orioles 6-1 on Sunday to earn a split of the four-game series.

Norris (2-1) was obtained by the Tigers on Thursday in the deal that sent former Cy Young Award winner David Price to Toronto. Assuming the spot in the rotation held by Detroit's ace, the 22-year-old Norris shined in his seventh career start.
