Tomas, Hill homer in D-backs' 8-4 win over Dodgers

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Arizona Diamondbacks are getting tired of watching the Dodgers win NL West titles year after year. Two seasons ago, they even watched Los Angeles celebrate in their swimming pool beyond the right field fence at Chase Field after clinching the division.

Monday night, the Diamondbacks made sure there wouldn't be a champagne party at their expense at Dodger Stadium before the home team went back on the road.

Paul Goldschmidt homered after Yasmany Tomas & Aaron Hill gave the Diamondbacks the lead with longballs off Brett Anderson, helping Jhoulys Chacin win an 8-4 decision on Monday night.

Diamondbacks option Reed to Triple-A Reno, reinstate Burgos

PHOENIX (AP) — The Arizona Diamondbacks have optioned struggling reliever Addison Reed to Triple-A Reno & reinstated right-handed reliever Enrique Burgos from the 15-day disabled list.

The right-handed Reed began the season as the team's closer yet lost that job to Brad Zeigler. The Diamondbacks tinkered with Reed's delivery, & there was some improvement for a time yet he was hit complex in an appearance against the Los Angeles Angels & booed roundly by the Chase Field crowd as he left the mound. Reed is 2-2 with a 5.92 ERA.

Burgos was 0-2 with a 4.61 ERA in 13 appearances before going on the DL with right shoulder tendinitis. He has 25 strikeouts, nearly two per inning, & eight walks.

Upton's 12th-inning homer lifts Padres past D-Backs 6-4

PHOENIX (AP) — No matter what uniform he is wearing, Justin Upton loves to hit in Chase Field.

Upton homered off Randall Delgado in the 12th inning Saturday night for what proved to be the winning run against his old team in San Diego's 6-4 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, a game that included Padres closer Craig Kimbrel's first blown save since last June.

''Justin showed why he is who he is & why he gets paid,'' Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale said. ''He received him to 3-2. He battled him & he was able to obtain a pitch he could handle. That is what tremendous hitters do. ''
