MADRID (AP) — Boosted by Cristiano Ronaldo's likely return & a nearly perfect home record, Real Madrid welcomes Manchester City on Wednesday with another Champions League final almost in its grasp.

Real Madrid is set to have Ronaldo back after he missed three straight games because of a leg injury, including the 0-0 first-leg draw in Manchester last week.

Ronaldo leads the Champions League with 16 goals, one shy of the record he set in the 2013-14 season.

MADRID (AP) — Real Madrid left back Marcelo has been widely criticized for diving against Wolfsburg in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

The Brazilian defender appeared to kick & head-butt Maximilian Arnold, then threw himself to the ground after pretending he was hit in the face by the German midfielder.

His antics in Real Madrid's 2-0 loss in Germany on Wednesday led to a yellow card to Arnold, who could miss the semifinals if he is booked again in next week's second leg & Wolfsburg advances.

Milan (AFP) – Roberto Mancini says he will remain as Inter Milan coach even if Serie A's most recent Champions League winners once again fail to qualify for Europe's elite club competition.

Inter, who won a historic treble under Jose Mourinho in 2010, are desperate to secure a third-place complete that would offer the possibility of Champions League football for the first time since their defeat to Marseille in the last 16 in 2012.

Ahead of Saturday's visit by Bologna, Mancini's men sit in fifth spot, 13 points behind leaders Juventus & five behind third-placed Roma, who themselves have a three-point lead on Fiorentina.

UEFA hikes some Champions League final tickets by 14 percent

LONDON (AP) — The cost of Champions League final tickets is rising by 14 percent, with only two-thirds of the seats being set aside for regular fans, UEFA said Tuesday.

The first 6,000 tickets for the May 28 match at San Siro in Milan went on general sale by lottery on Tuesday. A further 40,000 seats in the 71,500-capacity stadium will after be split between the finalists.

Thirty percent of the seats are in the most expensive category & have climbed 13 percent, from 390 euros at the 2015 final in Berlin to 440 euros ($478).

London (AFP) – Arsene Wenger has warned his hot-headed Arsenal players not to lose their composure again when they face bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup third round on Wednesday.

Wenger's side head to White Hart Lane for the first north London derby of the season after two successive defeats featuring three red cards for the Gunners.

France striker Olivier Giroud was dismissed in last week's Champions League loss against Dinamo Zagreb, while Brazilian defender Gabriel & Spanish midfielder Santi Cazorla were sent off in Saturday's painful 2-0 defeat at Chelsea.

Juve suffer Mandzukic injury blow

Milan (AFP) – Juventus have suffered a blow after Mario Mandzukic was sidelined for up to three weeks on Monday, notably ruling the Croatian out of the Turin giants' Champions League clash at home to Sevilla.

Both Mandzukic & fellow striker Alvaro Morata were forced off towards the end of Juve's 2-0 victory away to Genoa on Sunday, which ended the reigning champions' quest for a first Serie A win of the campaign.

Mandzukic underwent tests on Monday which "revealed a first grade tear in his right thigh muscle. He will be sidelined from competition for 20 days," according to a statement on Juve's website.

Berlin (AFP) – Jurgen Klopp will not take over at Borussia Moenchengladbach, both Klopp's agent & the Bundesliga club confirmed Monday, as Gladbach hunt for Lucien Favre's replacement following his shock resignation.

"Jurgen Klopp will not be the Borussia Moenchengladbach coach," Klopp's agent Marc Kosicke told magazine Sport Bild.

After losing their opening five Bundesliga matches to go bottom of the Bundesliga, Champions League side Gladbach need a new coach after Favre abruptly resigned on Sunday following his team's 1-0 defeat at Cologne the day before.
