OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) — New York Islanders star John Tavares scored twice to lead Canada to a 5-2 victory over the United States on Saturday night in a World Cup of Hockey exhibition game.

Logan Couture, Jay Bouwmeester & Matt Duchene moreover scored for Canada. Braden Holtby allowed two goals on 13 shots, & Corey Crawford faced 10 shots in 26:28 of ice time.

The U.S. beat Canada 4-2 on Friday night in Columbus, Ohio.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Patrick Kane & Joe Pavelski each had a goal & an assist to assist the United States beat Canada 4-2 on Friday night in an exhibition game before the World Cup of Hockey.

There were plenty of scrums, complex hits & offensive blood.

''When the U.S. plays Canada you're going to obtain that type of game whether it's an exhibition, preliminary game, semifinal or final,'' Kane said. ''You're going to find yourself in that situation in this rivalry.''

Goaltender Price to play 1st game in nearly 10 months

OTTAWA (AP) — Carey Price will play his first game in nearly 10 months on Friday, starting in goal for Canada's first World Cup of Hockey exhibition game against the United States in Columbus, Ohio.

Price missed almost all of last season with the Montreal Canadiens due to a right knee injury. He last played competitively on Nov. 25 when he was injure against the New York Rangers.

The World Cup of Hockey begins Sept. 17 in Toronto.

Sidney Crosby hoists Stanley Cup during parade in Canada

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia (AP) — Sidney Crosby has received a rousing reception during a parade in Canada, with the Pittsburgh Penguins captain showing off the Stanley Cup to his hometown fans.

Crosby rode in the back of a pickup truck & displayed the Cup on top of the cab, lifting it over his head several times. He was decked out in a black ball cap & a T-shirt proclaiming Stanley Cup Champions 2016.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police made an appearance. Other police on motorcycles sounded their sirens & vehicles blasted horns as the procession moved along the parade route in Cole Harbour on Saturday.

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Andres Guardado & Jesus Corona scored first-half goals & Mexico beat Canada 2-0 Tuesday night in a World Cup qualifier to become the first nation to clinch a berth in the six-nation final round of the North & Central American & Caribbean region.

Guardado scored on a penalty kick in the 17th & Corona in the 45th.

Seeking its seventh straight World Cup berth, Mexico (4-0) leads Group A with 12 points, followed by Canada & Honduras (both 1-2-1) & El Salvador (0-2-2).
