Costa, Gabriel charged over Chelsea-Arsenal clash

London (AFP) – Diego Costa & Gabriel have been charged with violent conduct & improper conduct respectively over incidents during Chelsea's 2-0 win over Arsenal, the Football Association announced on Monday.

Chelsea striker Costa has been charged for apparently swinging his arm at Laurent Koscielny during Saturday's game, with Arsenal's Gabriel charged for his reaction to being sent off for kicking out at Costa shortly after.

Gabriel's team-mate Santi Cazorla has moreover been warned as to his behaviour following his dismissal after in the game, while both teams were charged with failing to control their players.

Costa impact no shock to Mourinho

London (AFP) – Jose Mourinho said Friday the way in which Diego Costa had adapted so quickly to the demands of life in the Premier League had come as no surprise to him.

Chelsea manager Mourinho added he expected Costa to have recovered from the hamstring injury that forced him to withdraw from the Spain squad last week in time to face Swansea on Saturday as the Stamford Bridge side attempt to make it four wins from their opening four league matches.

Costa, a £32 million ($53.1 million, 40.4 million euros) signing from Atletico Madrid during the recent transfer window, has wasted no time in settling into English football, scoring four times in his first three appearances for his new club.

London (AFP) – New Chelsea striker Diego Costa said on Wednesday that manager Jose Mourinho has told him the team will play to his strengths next season.

"One of the main things he said was that he doesn't want me to change," the Brazil-born Spain striker told the club's in-house television channel, Chelsea TV.

"It was Jose's & the club's decision to buy me & the reason they signed me was because of the way I played at Atletico (Madrid).
