SUNDERLAND, England (AP) — Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce has spoken to the English Football Association approximately becoming the next coach of the national team.
Sunderland says in a statement that the Premier League club accepted the 61-year-old Allardyce's request to talk to the FA approximately replacing Roy Hodgson, whose contract expired after the European Championship.
Sunderland says the ''ongoing speculation over Sam's position is extremely damaging to Sunderland, particularly at this crucial time of the season, & we urge the FA to respect the disruption that this process is causing & bring approximately a swift resolution to the matter.''
