Ian Poulter already can feel his heart pumping a little faster & his eyes getting a little wider, two indications that the Ryder Cup is almost here.

There's just one difference this time.

Johnson emerging as a force in golf with another huge win

CARMEL, Ind. (AP) — Dustin Johnson walked down a corridor of fans, trying to touch the dozens of outstretched hands on both sides until he extended both arms into a massive wing span to accommodate as many as he could. It seemed everyone wanted a piece of him at Crooked Stick.

Just as long as they didn't have to play against him.

The BMW Championship might have been his most complete performance of what already has been a huge year. Johnson was powerful as ever off the tee, shaping shots in both directions. His new putter helped him obtain the ball started on the right line & he was pouring them in.

Johnson has gold in his pocket & an eye on the cash

CARMEL, Ind. (AP) — Dustin Johnson has his own gold medal.

It's actually a coin, a krugerrand from South Africa. And it's pure gold, unlike the medal Justin Rose won in Rio de Janeiro at the Olympics. A friend gave it to him, & Johnson was using it Wednesday during his pro-am at the BMW Championship.

Johnson is aiming for something more valuable, at least in terms of cash.
